    Fekete Zaj 2018
Brand identity and promotional elements, such as posters and social media items for Fekete Zaj (Black Noise), an independent underground music festival organized in the mountains of Matra, Hungary. Here the goal was to create a framework that organizers can use and easily alter for a wide scale of purposes. Another important visual aspect was to reflect to the atmosphere of the in-forest location and the industrial / electronic / post-punk music scene of the festival.

    Paraphrase
Paraphrase is an on-going experiment I’m started working on back in 2012. The aim of this project is to translate my photographs of characteristic architectural lines into the minimalist language of geometrical forms. It started as a lines-only illustration series, but since then it went through several iterations - as the number of subjects grows, I’m constantly looking for a visual form and concept that fits the purpose of this project.

The list of buildings and locations:
    1. Schneeberg Visitor Center - Austria 2. Swimming Pool - Szombathely, Hungary 3. Wooden cottage - Lofoten, Norway 4. Shopping mall near Bukit Bintang - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 5. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum - NYC, USA 6. White City - Tel Aviv, Israel 7. Oslo Opera House - Norway 8. Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum - NYC, USA 9. Monument to the WWII Yugoslav Partisan detachment - Belgrade, Serbia 10. Oslo Opera House - Norway

    Stalker
This project was truly an honour to be part of - a collaboration with the legendary Criterion Collection. They trusted me with the task to design a complete head-to-toe artwork for their re-release of Andrei Tarkovsky’s timeless classic: Stalker. My intention here was to try to create a bridge between Stalker’s cinematography and current-day graphic design by using Tarkovsky’s photographs and his story's under-the-layer, non-verbal symbols, and complement those with minimalistic illustrations. The whole process involved making a limited-edition poster and a Blu-Ray/DVD box set, including it's wrap, the inserts, discs and it's menus.

    Fekete Zaj
Fekete Zaj Festival is in a way my most beloved child - it's all started in 2010 when I was just a visitor there, but since 2018 I've became the festival's one and only graphic designer with the opportunity to completely reshape their whole visual identity and managing it from head to toe on a year-to-year basis.

This year we've tried to come up with a concept which resembles not just the surroundings of the venue like the very dense forest and the highest sitting natural lake of Hungary, but also mixes it with an underlying layer coming from the perception of music, creating a visual that can be either be deciphered as forest or a mountain of soundwaves - it's all up to your point of view.

The 2022 edition included a very wild variety of things like various posters, wristbands, stage projections, merchandise, maps, booklets, recups, pins, a complete marketing kit with modular social media posts and all sorts of things.

About Fekete Zaj: it's a small, underground music festival deep in the mountains of Matra - Hungary, mostly featuring underground artists from the electronic - post-punk - new-wave - goth - industrial - scandinavian metal music scene, like Kælen Mikla, Godflesh, Boy Harsher, She Past Away, Isolated Youth, Thy Catafalque, Ic3peak, etc - except Lana Del Rey.

If you are curious about the earlier iteriations and would like the see the evolution of this project, you can find all of what we've done since 2018 here.

    Geometric studies
Follow up on a previous project, 36 Days of Type, I tried to use the experiences I gathered during the 36-day challenge, and extend that visual atmosphere a little further. As before, I wanted to create 2D images, using only very few colours and strict geometric elements that can also be seen as 3D objects.
